HYKINE (abbreviation of the English word “hyperkinetic”) is ao Mexican company founded in 2019 by Mateo López and Soxacen Rodríguez (aka SOXAgamedev).

After, the team is joined by Kevin Arzate, Daniel Zamarripa and Ivan Aco in the programming area and Dante De Luna in the research and scripting area.

Mission

HYKINE’s mission is to generate learning and human value through aesthetic, narrative and mechanical experiences in various digital media; or in other words: fun and innovative video games

OUR FIRST VIDEOGAME

Flowy Jumpo consists of collecting stickers and tokens through several levels, which will become part of an album. To achieve this, Jumpo must jump and perform acrobatics on platforms, rails and buildings, sometimes created by other users.

Our first videogame

It all starts in a galaxy very, very close, where Mateo López meets Soxacen Rodríguez. Sharing their love for Parkour, the idea of a video game with this theme arises.

The project materializes in a 2D platformer called Flowy Jumpo, where Jumpo, the main character, runs across the rooftops of buildings to collect stickers, doing a series of displacement feats, evoking the discipline of Parkour

Objectives

The objective of Flowy Jumpo is to raise awareness about the spirit of Parkour and as a playful means for people -and especially children- to have intuitions of what it feels like to perform this discipline.

And not only that, but in the process they could become aware of the use of creativity to overcome the obstacles that exist in the world. This is done through the eyes of Jumpo, making it possible to understand the ways in which it is easier to flow and endure in life.

Character

In Flowy Jumpo the character's movement is a narrative in itself.

  • The video game aims to inspire its audience to overcome self limitations through the movement of Jumpo
  • Which undertakes a journey where the user starts and ends at fixed points, but allows for exploration
  • Always with the purpose of having fun. In this sense, the main idea of the game is to motivate ourselves under the premises of collecting, exploring and building.

Mechanics

The game mechanics of Flowy Jumpo consists on the character collecting stickers and tokens through several levels, which will become part of an album. To achieve this, Jumpo must jump and perform acrobatics on platforms, rails and buildings, sometimes created by other users.

Users can create their own levels and share them using a ‘Pix’ system that converts a 500x150 pixelart image into a stage! check out our tutorials to find out more.
